DERBY CITY BOP - BOOGIE IN THE BLUEGRASS

Debbe and Mike have been dancing together for 25 of their 30 plus years of marriage. They began their dancing hobby in the early 80's at Arthur Murray Dance Studio where they studied ballroom for 13 years. They joined Chicago’s Windy City Jitterbug Club in 1992 and began blending their ballroom experience with Chicago Swing dancing to develop their own style. In 1995 they turned their attention to choreography and dance exhibitions.

They began teaching for CWCJC in 1995. They are lead instructors in the program and teach beginner through advanced Jitterbug (East Coast Swing) and also specialized workshops in several different dances from Ballroom to Hustle.

Over the past 12 + years they have had the pleasure of performing and teaching at several dance conventions.

In September ‘05 they were inducted into the American Bop Association’s Hall of Fame.

They are looking forward to another great weekend at Boogie in the Bluegrass.

Brian & Megan are both from Louisville KY.

Brian B is a 5 UCWDC superstar world champion and a 2017 inductee to the UCWDC country dance hall of fame.

Megan Anderson is the 2015 UCWDC pro/pro world champion. 

Megan and Brian began dancing together in 2004 as a pro/am partnership. 

In 2016 they chose to turn their partnership professional.

They were undefeated during the 2017 dance season finishing a close 2nd in the masters division at worlds in San Fransisco in January 2018.

They teach in Louisville KY and around the world.

Brian runs the worlds largest West Coast Swing website, WestCoastSwingOnline.com

He also hosts DerbyCitySwing January 24th-27th and the NuLu Open Country & Swing event, May 9th-12th right here in Louisville

Brook Jenkins is a dedicated member of Derby City Bop who loves to teach various line dances to our club members. Brook will be teaching Zjozzys Funk and a Cha Cha line dance at this years Boogie.

Laura Whitfill has been a member of Derby City Bop for many years. Laura often teaches various line dances to our club members but also volunteers to teach East Coast Swing steps as well. Laura will be teaching our club classic "Lady Soul" this year and is integral, along with other Derby City Bop members in putting together the "BOO-gie Hexentanzers (Witch Dancers) Spotlight Dance this year.

Rob and Cheryl Grobmeier are members of Derby City Bop who volunteer their time and talents teaching West Coast Swing for our club.
